Kim, Heather, Adrienne
It was the perfect day for a road trip and I was up bright and early to drive the 3+ hours from Chico to San Francisco to meet up with my blogger friends. My bags were packed to overflowing, despite my carefully crafted packing list here. The weather in San Francisco can change on a dime so it's always good to be prepared. When meeting with these stylish ladies, Adrienne of The Rich Life on a Budget and Kim of Northern California Style, fashion options are always a good thing.
As I pulled up to the charming Hotel Monaco, a chic boutique hotel just two blocks from
Union Square, I was greeted with a smile and whisked into the lovely hotel.
At guest services, I was greeted by the gracious Daniel Bayless who made my check-in effortless.
In just minutes I was standing in my classically cozy room with a modern twist. I felt immediately at home. A quick text and I heard a knock at my door. My fabulous friends had arrived-hugs all around! I consider them friends though I have only met Adrienne once and this was my first time meeting Kim. I feel like I've known them forever and that is the best thing about blogging for me.
Our first stop was lunch at the iconic Rotunda at Neiman Marcus
. We were seated with beautiful views of Union Square with the Christmas tree already decorated. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with a splash of pink bubbly to celebrate our time together. We did a little shopping at Neiman Marcus and met with Tiffany and Fernando for make up sessions at the Armani counter. We all agreed the Armani Luminous Silk foundation is a must have.
We headed back to the Hotel Monaco, for some cozy conversation before dinner and discovered that Guest Services (Daniel and Nancy) had sent up fruit/cheese platters and wine to each of our rooms. They also included a personalized note and a 'key to the city'. I discovered the animal print robes, socks, umbrella and even yoga mats tucked in the closet. The Kimpton Hotel brand is thoughtful about creature comforts of all kinds.
Sunset from Adrienne's room
Adrienne brought a bottle of Veuve Clicquot to share as we cozied up and enjoyed some girl talk before dressing for dinner. Kim gave us each a necklace with a pendant in the shape of California, so fitting for us California lifestyle bloggers. These few hours were by far my favorite part of the trip.
Later we dined at another iconic spot, Farallon, just blocks away from the hotel. Our dishes were swoon worthy and the service was impeccable.
Back at the hotel we decided it was bed time after a busy day so we each tucked into our rooms for a dreamy sleep.
It felt so luxurious to have a room and bathroom all to myself for a night.
#spoiled by Hotel Monaco
We awoke to another sunny day in the city and made our way downstairs. The living spaces at Hotel Monaco are luxurious yet comfortable with cushy furnishings and two fireplaces. The 'Tree of Life' sculpture above has sentimental meaning and is dedicated to the creator of the Kimpton Hotel brand, Bill Kimpton, by artist Albert Guibara.
Bloggers in action
(we understand each other's need to 'get that shot', instagram, post, tweet it...all that blog stuff)
Next to the lobby is the Grand Cafe
where we had a reservation for brunch. Chef Dirk created a memorable gourmet menu. I ordered the eggs with caramelized cauliflower and truffle oil and was thoroughly impressed. A few of his seasonal recipes can be found here
Jose, Daniel (from guest services), Chef Dirk, manager Mark and our delightful sous chef
Thanks to the fantastic staff we were completely spoiled at the Grand Cafe. We followed our brunch with some Macy's sale shopping. I happened to be on Macy's 2nd floor right at the moment the BatKid arrived. Read more on Adrienne's post on Skimbaco Life here
It was heartwarming to see the city sharing the love!
Finally, it was time to say goodbye and travel our separate ways. I know we all wish we lived closer. The beauty of blogging is that we won't miss a beat for our next meetup since blogging keeps us so well in touch. The connections we form feel genuine and I am grateful for the relationships I have made with these wonderful women, and so many of you around the world.
*Our stay at the Hotel Monaco was generously sponsored as was our fabulous brunch at the Grand Cafe.
They run some fantastic seasonal packages at Hotel Monaco here.
I would recommend this lovely boutique hotel for a girlfriends' getaway or a romantic stay. The rooms easily accommodate families and it is pet friendly. They offer complimentary bikes for wheeling around town.
My thanks to the Kimpton Hotel Group, Hotel Monaco, the Grand Cafe and Nancy for sponsoring our stay.
Thanks to Daniel, Lauren and staff for making our stay seamless and spoiling us.
Cheers to more blogger getaways in all of our futures!
