We celebrated an early Easter with my family a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't resist sharing some of my mom's beautiful decor and her tablescape for her brunch. Scott and I were flying in from Los Cabos to Sacramento. Since we were arriving late at night, I asked her if we could sleep over and head home in the morning. I thought it would be fun to have brunch with family. I told her not to fuss, just keep it simple. What a fun surprise to see that mom had planned an early Easter family brunch since all our family was in town.
Mom used decorations she has collected over the years, especially from when my nephews were young. Since they are now in high school and college, we could almost call them 'vintage'. Each place had a modern 'Easter egg basket' with chocolates and a Starbucks gift card (which we all enjoy!). Mom is so thoughtful.
Aren't these tulips vibrant? I don't remember seeing tulips so brightly colored before.
Mom always has a fresh bouquet of flowers in the guest room when we visit, as I mentioned here. Aren't they pretty? In the morning I heard a knock on the door, and she delivered this tray of buttered raisin toast, mandarin oranges, coffee and cream. #spoiled us
We didn't get a proper photo of the meal as it seems we were all too busy devouring her delicious dishes--egg strata, stuffed mushrooms, potato casserole (with caramelized onions), broiled tomatoes and fresh fruit. My sister, Heidi, brought pastries from her quick trip to Los Angeles the day before. With our family there is no lack of merriment and laughter when we get together. Thank you, mom and Hal, for the beautiful brunch and the sleep-over at your lovely home. The love story here continues.
A favorite family recipe for brunch here.
