Power of Flower!
Perhaps it's because my name, Heather, represents a flower (more specifically "a flowering shrub") that I have a tremendous affinity for flowers. I adore them fresh, au natural, in a vase, in a photograph. A flower stand or flower market can nearly bring a tear to my eye. I've always had a weakness for floral prints and fabrics. There is something overtly feminine, yet natural and earthy, about florals. I can still remember the bold, bright colors of a sleeveless blouse I bought at Gap in the late 1980's. I had arrived in Los Angeles, on a plane, escaping a snowy winter in Michigan and living in my pink puffy coat. I left that pink puffy coat behind and selected some pretty, sunny floral prints for my new life in Southern California. Floral prints can't heal a broken heart, but they can certainly help raise your spirits, as I discovered. I wish I still had that blouse. It's so on trend this season, although I'm sure it was size small. Just like a fragrance, I believe floral prints are very personal. A print needs to have the right blend of color, shape and scale, to appeal. If the balance is off for you it may feel a bit dowdy or dated. When you find the right one, it will speak to you...and it will become yours. Therein lies the power of flower!
This is such a pretty look. The flowers (hello yellow!) are vintage and the over-sized shades and bold lips keep it modern.
Flowers seem to play well with bling.

Yes, I'll have what she's having.
I wore this floral print sleeveless blouse to afternoon tea with my gorgeous (and glowing) friend Dale, of Savvy Spice and Savvy Sleepers. Dale is back home visiting in California from her current home in Switzerland. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement about a pairing of Stylemindchic Boutique and Savvy Sleepers! Though I adore flowers, I must confess, floral arranging is not one of my talents. I'll leave that to my incredibly talented mom who has the power of flowers here. Each time I stay overnight at her home my mom has a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers on the nightstand.
My sister, Dorie, also has the power of flower. Take a peek at this post by my blog friend, Tamera Beardsley, featuring a party my sister hosted recently here in Newport Beach. Aren't these flowers gorgeous?
How about you?
Are you feeling the power of flower this season?
