Master Bedroom Restyle
I love design, all things shiny and bright, as well as a super sophisticated neutral palette. It may be the psychologist in me, but I've always been fascinated with the psychology of color and the influence our environments have on our emotional well-being. With that understanding, it's meaningful for me to keep my environments, whether at home, the car, or my office, congruent with my aesthetic. Life just feels better that way.
I've recently shaken things up in the master bedroom (blush). Essentially we went from a sleek, boutique style affair to a bit more, shall we say, plush, with a Holly regency feel. I don't mind admitting that our new bedding situation feels like we are sleeping in a cloud. Something about the super soft, faux fur pillows and luxe blanket that make me feel, well cloud like, even on those legendary insomniac nights.
The inspiration from our redesign came from the sale of our family cottage at Lake Tahoe. My dear mom generously gifted me a couple of pieces to take home as remembrances from our special place there. The gilt mirror and lamp were the starting point. With a little inspiration from Kelly Wearstler, I wanted to combine the sleek with a little touch of modern glam. I'm a little nuts over chevron stripes and pops of yellow; that's pretty obvious.
Both of the chandeliers in our room we found in Paris at the Clignancourt flea market in 2003. The French flea market is rather too fab to even describe, I'm still not quite over it. We shipped a container home from Paris for our vintage boutique cooperative. Our space was called Belle Vie, at the wonderful Eighth and Main in Chico. Then my style went more sleek and I was kind of over it. In 2012, I would say I'm in a mood for blending both styles. Nothing like a vintage Italian chandelier with an uber mod leather sectional. Let's mix it up!

but was willing to be photographed
